Effect of JA1 on telomerase activity and cell cycle of
hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines

Abstract: Hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines (HepG2) was used as target cell. Telomerase activity was determined by telomeric repeat amplification protocol (TRAP) in HepG2 untreated and treated with JA1. The cell cycle phases were analyzed by flowcytometry. The obtained results revealed that telomerase
activity of HepG2 was significantly inhibited when treated with JA1, the effect of inhibition was
dose dependant, SubG1 phase peak occurred in flow cytometry, JA1 could cause HepG2 cell cycle to change and with time elapsing, G2/M phase increased. The results also indicated that JA1 can effectively inhibit
telomeraseactivity of tumor cells.
