Study on species and geographic distribution of ticks in Gansu Province

Abstract: The objective of the study was to investigate species and geographic distribution of ticks in Gansu Province . The ticks were collected with white cloth from grassland and picked from body surface of livestock. The results were as follows. 20 species of ticks were found. There are Dermacenter nuttalli,D.nievus,Hyalomma asiaticum asiaticum,H. rufipes,H. anatolicum,H.asiaticum in the plain of Hexi Corridor. There are D.nuttalli,H.dromedarri,H.anatolicum,H.asiaticum in the southern hilly area of Hexi Corridor. There are D.nuttalli and H. detritum in the desert plateau of Hexi. There are D.nuttalli,D.silvarum,H.japonica,H.longicornis, H.qinghaiensis, Ixodes ovatus in the middle of Yellow Land Plateau. There are D.nuttalli, H.loangicornis,H.punctata,I.ovatus,I.persulcatus, Rh.sanguineus,Boophilus microplus in the mountainous region of Longnan Prefecture. There are D.nuttalli,I.crenulatus,I.pomerantzevi,I.persulcatus,H.qinghaiensis,H.verticalis in the mountainous region and hilly plain of Gannan Prefecture. It was concluded that D.nuttalli distributes in all areas of Gansu Province, and the distribution of the other 19 species of ticks are characterized by apparent geographic features.
